Is getting social an organisations social blunder?

With many companies actively using social media, do they really know how to manage an employee’s social media crisis? As has been in seen numerous cases; employees take to social platforms not really keeping in mind the potential harm, they can cause to an organisation’s brand image.

There’ve been several incidents; where people take to social media to negatively comment or voice their own personal objectives towards national and international current or political agendas. This negative commentary impacts not own only their personal brand, but also that of the organisation.

One of the decisions that organisations can look at is employee social media empowerment. Social media training sessions should be encouraged in every organisation to not only educate employees on the art of voicing an opinion but to also boost and enhance their social media skills too.

Developing effective social media policies will enable organisations to safeguard themselves from potential risks.
